History of Hume/Spun Pipes

Walter Reginald Hume (1873-1943) of Australia invented the process of making concrete pipes by spinning/centrifugal process in 1910.

After it inventor concrete pipes are called Hume pipe.

It was made through spinning/centrifugal process so it it also called rcc spun pipes or concrete spun pipes.

 

RCC Pipes are also knows by there uses and other names as follow.

  1.  RCC Hume Pipe or Hume Pipe.
  2. RCC Spun Pipe or Spun Pipe.
  3. RCC Pipe.
  4. Cement Pipe or Concrete Pipe.
  5. Culvert Pipe.
  6. Sewerage Pipe or Drainage Pipe.

Sizes & Class

We manufacturer pipe sizes from 100 mm to 1800 mm i/d and available in NP2 , NP3, NP3, & P1 class as per IS:458

 

Manufacturing Process

  1. Cages/reinforcement/jali are made as per IS:458
  2. Mould release agent is applied properly inside the mould and  reinforcement are kept inside mould and are assembled with end-rings & tie-rod
  3. Assembled mould are place for spinning machine with help of Chain-pulley or Electric Hoist.
  4. Concrete is made in mixture machine as per mix design and is placed at both end of mould opening.
  5. Initially spinning machine started at low RPM and concrete is poured inside mould from both end. RPM is controlled with the help of gearbox, reaves gears or now a days with VFD.
  6. Due to centrifugal force concrete get flung evenly inside mould and extra water get squeezed resulting very dense, waterproof, strong pipe.
  7. After inside finishing of pipes  are placed aside for setting. Generally it takes 24 hours to set the concrete.
  8. After ensuring proper setting mould are opened and pipes are put for curing.
  9. 7-21 days pipe are cured and then are siding is done. After this pipe are ready for dispatch.

 

Testing

  1. Testing of Concrete Pipe are done as per IS:3597
  2. We have facility of Three Edge bearing testing, Straightness Test, Dimension Test.

  5. 1 nos of impact wrench for faster tightening n loosening of nut-bolt in mould.
  6. 9 tonne capacity hydra/crane for proper handling, siding and loading of pipes.
  7. Lathe machine for regular turning of runner and end-ring of mould to ensure proper quality of pipes.
  8. Welding machine, drill machine, cut-off saw, angle grinder etc.
